Weather Application using Webservices
Our client is a fully integrated e-business service provider which provides end-to-end business solutions to organizations, business entities and government agencies. Client wants to build a Weather Application portal to provide the information for the Citizens of Malaysia by getting the data from MET in XML Format and exposing it to the portal in 2 languages (English and Malay) using Webservices.
The existing application is without the web services which is impacting the performance and not getting the real time data up to date at any point of time.
Client chose Liferay as the technology platform and selected esquare as the execution partner to build the application
This module has 2 applications. The weather display application which should reside in the portal server. It displays the weather info to the visiting guest. The other application is a web service component which should reside in the integration server. The service component shall read the weather data and exposes a web method for retrieving the weather info.
The weather data was push via FTP from the MET System to an integration server twice a day. The data will be in xml format for both category land and marine forecast. There are 4 xml files for the data 2 for land and marine fo recast and in 2 languages (English and Malay)
